I turned off "allow others to see that I have a webcam" on msn?

I turned off the webcam feature on msn (allow others to see that I have a webcam) so that my friend shouldn't be able to see me, but he was still able to. I've done this with my other friends and it worked. Why was this friend still able to see me?
