I want to go to Veterinary school?

I am about to graduate with a degree in Zoology but I know my grades are exactly up to snuff to get into a Vet school. Is it possible to get my vet tech certificate, be a vet tech for awhile and then apply? Will vet schools allow that or is it based off of your bachelor degree? Any information would be vastly helpful; including how/where to get a vet tech certification.
