Lenovo laptop wont work properly.. help?

this morning it worked great i was on msn and itunes. I just got it back off my sister and now it wont open any files other than internet and documents. i tried t scan it for viruses but that wont work either i even went into the antivirus through the documents and it still wont open. does anyone know how to fix it? thanks
